Purple Audio Tav

The Purple Audio TAV is a ten-band inductor-based graphic equalizer designed to fit standard 500 Series racks. It features high-quality inductors and carefully selected capacitors to set the center frequency for each band. Each band can boost or cut by 12 dB, with bands narrow enough at full boost or cut for precise control, yet broader at lower settings for smoother tonal shaping. It includes an illuminated pushbutton for relay true bypass, allowing easy comparison with the unprocessed source signal. The unit has a tricolor LED level meter for signal monitoring.

The frequency response ranges from +/- 0.25 dB between 15 Hz to 25 kHz, extending to -3 dB at 60 kHz, offering a wide and musical bandwidth. The circuit is fully discrete, with no electrolytic capacitors in the signal path and no servo amps, using just two active stages for low current draw. Specialized input and output transformers provide plenty of headroom even at full boost. The TAV uses Purple Audio's discrete KDJ3 and KDJ4 op-amps. It is built for robust and flexible tonal shaping during tracking and mixing, making it a modern take on classic console graphic EQs with a musical and useful filter design.
